PM Modi Reviews Assam Flood Situation With Himanta Biswa Sarma

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to review the prevailing flood situation in the state and assured all possible assistance from the Centre for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

Sharing details of the conversation on X, Chief Minister Sarma said the Prime Minister reviewed the flood situation, assessed the extent of the damage, monitored the progress of relief operations and enquired about the challenges facing the state administration.

Sarma briefed the Prime Minister on the measures taken by the Assam government to provide relief and ensure assistance reaches every flood-affected family. He said Prime Minister Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and extensive damage caused by the floods and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting the people of Assam during the crisis.

CM Sarma thanked the Prime Minister for his continued support during the flood crisis.

Assam has witnessed repeated flooding due to incessant rainfall, affecting more than 11 lakh people across several districts.

The NDRF, SDRF, Army and local authorities are carrying out rescue and relief operations, while the state government continues to run relief camps, distribute essential supplies and restore damaged infrastructure.
