PM Modi Pays Tribute To Sardar Patel At Statue Of Unity; Reaffirms Commitment To National Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led the nation in paying heartfelt tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, the Iron Man of India, every year on October 31 to reinforce the spirit of national integration and security.

The tribute ceremony featured a grand parade and cultural performances, reflecting India’s unity in diversity. The celebration honoured Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution to uniting the nation during its formative years.

During the event, PM Modi took the Ekta Shapath (unity pledge), vowing to protect India’s unity and integrity. Addressing the gathering, he said, “I take this oath to protect the unity and integrity of our country and dedicate myself to this cause.”

Reaffirming his commitment, he added, “I take this pledge with the spirit of national unity and commit myself to maintaining internal security.” The unity pledge symbolises a solemn resolve to safeguard India’s strength, solidarity, and internal harmony.

Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister offered prayers and floral tributes at the Statue of Unity around 8 AM. Later, he attended the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which featured contingents from the BSF, CRPF, and several state police forces.

Sardar Patel Remembered as the Architect of National Integration

Sharing a message on X, PM Modi wrote, “India pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th Jayanti. He was the driving force behind India’s integration, thus shaping our nation’s destiny in its formative years. His unwavering commitment to national integrity, good governance and public service continues to inspire generations.”

In a video address, the Prime Minister described Sardar Patel as the ‘architect of India’s integration’, highlighting his unmatched ability to unite people despite ideological differences. “He dedicated his life to the unity of the nation, merged princely states with India, and awakened the spirit of unity in diversity among all Indians,” PM Modi said.

The day’s celebration reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to uphold Patel’s vision of a united, strong, and self-reliant India.
