PM Modi Pays Tribute To Mohan Bhagwat On His 75th Birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi praised Bhagwat’s lifelong commitment to societal transformation and his efforts to foster harmony and fraternity across India.

Inspired by the ancient principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family — PM Modi described Mohan Bhagwat as a figure who has dedicated his entire life to nurturing these values.

“On the special occasion of his 75th birthday, penned a few thoughts on Mohan Ji and his inspiring personality,” the Prime Minister wrote, adding prayers for his long and healthy life in the service of Maa Bharti.

Reflecting on a Transformative Leadership Journey

In a detailed blog post, PM Modi reflected on Bhagwat’s early journey in the RSS, recalling his rise through various key roles, including his current position as Sarsanghchalak since 2009.

PM Modi lauded Bhagwat’s leadership during challenging times such as the Emergency and the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting his adaptability and steadfastness.

PM Modi also recalled his personal ties with Bhagwat’s family, praising the influence of Bhagwat’s father, the late Madhukarrao Bhagwat, in grooming him towards nation-building.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Bhagwat’s tenure marked one of the most transformative periods in the RSS’s 100-year history, noting modernisations in uniform, training methods, and increased youth engagement.

PM Modi highlighted two key traits defining Bhagwat’s leadership: continuity and adaptation.

Despite the traditional roots of the RSS, Bhagwat’s openness to change and use of digital platforms have broadened the organisation’s reach and relevance.

He also underscored Bhagwat’s strong advocacy of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, emphasising his belief in India’s diversity and unity.

PM Modi mentioned Bhagwat’s involvement in national campaigns such as Swachh Bharat Mission and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which invigorate RSS’s social outreach.

Bhagwat’s ‘Panch Parivartan’ framework — social harmony, family values, environmental awareness, national selfhood, and civic duties — was described as a comprehensive vision for societal wellbeing.

Personal Qualities and Cultural Interests

The Prime Minister shared lesser-known facets of Bhagwat’s personality, including his proficiency with Indian musical instruments and his passion for reading, which enrich his speeches and public engagements.

As the RSS marks its centenary year, PM Modi reflected on the coincidence of major national celebrations falling alongside this milestone.

He called Mohan Bhagwat a ‘wise and hardworking Sarsanghchalak’, guiding the organisation through these important times.

PM Modi concluded by describing Bhagwat as a living embodiment of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, whose leadership fosters trust, brotherhood, and equality in society.

He once again wished Bhagwat a long and healthy life dedicated to serving the nation.
