PM Modi Pays Tribute To Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs On 106th Anniversary

PM Narendra Modi, along with other senior leaders, paid heartfelt tributes on Sunday to the martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre as the nation marked the 106th anniversary of the tragic incident that became a defining moment in India’s freedom struggle.

A Dark Chapter In Our History: PM Modi

Taking to social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi honoured those who lost their lives in the massacre, calling it a moment of profound sorrow and sacrifice in Indian history.

“We pay homage to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh. The coming generations will always remember their indomitable spirit. It was indeed a dark chapter in our nation’s history. Their sacrifice became a major turning point in India’s freedom struggle,” he posted.

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre: Amit Shah Recalls Impact On Freedom Movement

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered the martyrs, stating that the brutality of the British colonial regime at Jallianwala Bagh sparked mass anger that helped transform the independence movement into a nationwide uprising.

“The Jallianwala Bagh massacre is a dark chapter in India’s freedom struggle that shook the entire country,” Shah wrote on X.

He further added, “The cruelty of British rule ignited such widespread outrage that it turned the freedom movement into a struggle of the masses. I pay my tribute to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh. The country will always cherish their memory.”

A Sacred Pilgrimage For Patriots, Says CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid his respects by referring to Jallianwala Bagh as a sacred site for patriots. He saluted the courage and sacrifice of those who resisted colonial oppression.

“Millions of salutes to the immortal martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh! It is a sacred pilgrimage for all patriots,” CM Yogi Adityanath wrote on X.

“The sacrifice of those revolutionaries is a saga of self-respect and freedom that will forever inspire the nation,” he further added.

Jallianwala Bagh Memorial: A Tribute To The Fallen

Today, Jallianwala Bagh stands as a national memorial managed by the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust.

Located near the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, the site has been converted into a public garden and features a museum, a gallery, and several memorial structures dedicated to the victims of the massacre.

The memorial honors those lost in the massacre and reminds future generations of their sacrifice for India’s freedom.
