PM Modi Mocks Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Shahi Jaadugar’ Remark on Poverty: Taunts Fly in Election Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a recent election rally, criticizing the grand promises made in the Congress party’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Modi, referring to Gandhi as “Congress ke shehzade” (prince of the Congress), ridiculed the claim of eradicating poverty with a single stroke, calling it laughable. He questioned Gandhi’s credibility, suggesting that such extravagant promises lack substance and reliability.

Addressing the crowd in Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad, Modi highlighted the incredulity surrounding Gandhi’s statement and mocked the notion of a “royal magician” suddenly appearing to solve deep-rooted issues. He further ridiculed the Congress for previously governing with a metaphorical “remote control” and now proposing a miraculous solution, which, according to Modi, insults the plight of the poor.

Earlier in the week, Rahul Gandhi had announced the Congress party’s ambitious promises, including the pledge to eliminate poverty with a single measure and to transfer ₹one lakh to the account of one woman from every impoverished household if the party secures victory in the upcoming elections.

The manifesto also outlines other key commitments such as filling millions of vacant government positions, ensuring a national minimum wage of ₹400 per day, securing minimum support prices for farmers as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission, conducting a comprehensive socio-economic and caste census, and abolishing application fees for government exams and positions.
