Early Sunday morning, two unidentified individuals on motorbikes unleashed a hail of gunfire outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood luminary Salman Khan, prompting heightened security measures and a swift police response. The incident, occurring around 5 am near Galaxy Apartments in Bandra where Khan resides, saw four rounds discharged before the assailants swiftly absconded from the scene, as reported by a police official to news agency PTI.
In the wake of the brazen attack, security protocols around Khan’s residence were promptly bolstered, with law enforcement agencies scouring CCTV footage in the vicinity to ascertain the identities of the perpetrators. A contingent of local police, crime branch personnel, and forensic experts swiftly descended on the location to gather crucial evidence and launch a thorough investigation into the matter. At the time of the incident, there was no official confirmation regarding Khan’s presence within the premises.
Notably, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde engaged in a telephonic conversation with Salman Khan in the aftermath of the assault, wherein he underscored the gravity of the situation. Shinde also conferred with the Mumbai Police Commissioner, advocating for an augmentation of Khan’s security detail in light of the unfolding events.
This unsettling episode adds to a string of threats that have loomed over Salman Khan in recent years. In March 2023, an ominous email directed at the actor’s office prompted the Mumbai Police to register a case against suspected gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and an accomplice. The correspondence, received by one Prashant Gunjalkar, alleged criminal conspiracy and intimidation, citing an interview featuring Bishnoi. The message ominously warned of forthcoming consequences if Khan failed to engage in direct dialogue, further fueling concerns about his safety.
As the investigation unfolds, the authorities remain vigilant, underscoring the imperative of safeguarding the acclaimed actor and addressing the broader implications of such targeted acts of aggression.
