Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Motihari on July 19 included a heartfelt meeting with Swami Shakti Sharananand Saraswati Maharaj, a revered spiritual figure. The Swami praised PM Modi’s dedication to India and global peace, noting that the Prime Minister’s values reflect those of Lord Ram.
Speaking to IANS, the Swami said, “Despite holding the highest post, PM Modi’s simplicity is inspiring. His thoughts promote unity, and he never discriminates based on caste, religion or status. His saint-like character and determination set him apart.”
Mutual respect marked the meeting. Swami Shakti Sharananand Saraswati and his disciples presented PM Modi with a symbolic set of gifts, a cow with a calf embellished with golden stones, a book, a Madhubani art-decorated sheet, and a Rudraksha mala.
In return, PM Modi offered a ‘chadar’ to the Swami, a gesture of traditional honour.
Swami Shakti Sharananand expressed his joy, stating, “The Prime Minister’s humility was evident. His act of posting our picture on social media showed how much respect he has for everyone, even a saint from a small town like me.”
Later, PM Modi shared the experience on X, saying, “Today I had the good fortune of taking blessings from Swami Shakti Sharananand Saraswati Ji Maharaj in Motihari. While his personality is full of brilliance and energy, his speech is also full of spirituality. I am overwhelmed by the intimacy, affection and guidance of Maharaj Ji!”
Earlier, PM Modi addressed a crowd at Motihari’s Gandhi Maidan and launched projects worth ₹7,217 crore. These span across infrastructure, transport, and public services.
He also flagged off four Amrit Bharat trains, which will significantly improve rail connectivity in Bihar.
The Prime Minister announced a new scheme granting ₹15,000 to first-time private sector hires starting 1 August. The government launched this ₹1 lakh crore-backed initiative to boost youth employment and private sector growth.
