PM Narendra Modi met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Sunday, a day after undertaking a high-profile visit to his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi.
The visit included key project inaugurations and the release of substantial financial assistance to farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.
During his 51st visit to Varanasi, PM Modi released the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. He transferred over ₹20,500 crore into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This release pushed the total disbursal under the scheme beyond ₹3.90 lakh crore since its inception in February 2019.
The PM-KISAN scheme offers ₹6,000 annually to land-holding farmers in three equal instalments, aiming to supplement their financial needs.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth approximately ₹2,200 crore in Varanasi, aimed at improving infrastructure, tourism, and urban amenities.
PM Modi inaugurated the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi Road and the Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road, along with a Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, which is expected to ease traffic congestion on the busy Mohan Sarai–Adalpura Road.
He also laid the foundation for extensive road works across both rural and urban corridors, including Dalmandi, Lahartara–Kotwa, Gangapur, and Babatpur.
Additionally, two new Railway Overbridges will be constructed at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.
To improve the electricity supply system, PM Modi initiated works under the Smart Distribution Project and approved the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure worth over ₹880 crore, enhancing the region’s power infrastructure and resilience.
PM Modi also inaugurated major tourism and heritage initiatives. These included the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats, development at Kalika Dham, and beautification of the pond and ghat at Rangildas Kutiya, Shivpur.
He laid the foundation stone for the restoration and purification of Durgakund, the renovation of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, and the development of Karkhiyaon, the birthplace of several freedom fighters.
Additional projects include City Facility Centres at Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar Zones.
