PM Modi Meets BRICS NSAs After Security Talks In New Delhi

National Security Advisers (NSAs) and senior security officials from BRICS member countries met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday following the conclusion of the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting.

Following the interaction, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the growing importance of BRICS in addressing global security challenges amid a changing international landscape. He emphasised the grouping’s role in strengthening cooperation on issues such as terrorism, cyber security and emerging technologies, while reaffirming India’s commitment to advancing the priorities of the Global South during its upcoming BRICS chairmanship.

During the two-day meeting, the NSAs and heads of delegation discussed a wide range of global and regional security concerns.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), deliberations focused on non-traditional security challenges, including energy security, food security, supply chain resilience, cyber threats, climate-induced instability and the misuse of emerging technologies by terrorist networks.

The officials also reviewed the outcomes of the BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and on Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies, held earlier this year.

The participating countries expressed support for expanding BRICS cooperation through stronger capacity-building measures, enhanced information sharing and closer coordination among law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism and cyber risks.

The officials reaffirmed their commitment to countering terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including addressing the misuse of new technologies by extremist groups.

The NSAs and heads of delegation also extended full support to India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026 under the theme, ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’.

The meeting concluded with a joint call on Prime Minister Modi.
