Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with CEOs and founders of 20 Indian space startups at Seva Teerth and highlighted the rapid growth of the country’s private space sector. He called for greater collaboration and innovation to position India as a global hub for space technology.
The interaction, held on Friday, brought together startups working on rockets, reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicles, avionics, satellites, advanced propulsion, space and defence intelligence, space debris removal, and AI-powered weather and climate intelligence.
PM Modi praised the startups for placing their trust in the government and said consistent policies could encourage companies to take greater risks and pursue ambitious technological breakthroughs. He said the world should increasingly look towards Indian startups whenever major developments take place in the space sector.
The Prime Minister said India’s competitive costs, strong talent pool and willingness to take risks could help the country establish itself rapidly in the global space industry. He further called for an ecosystem that would attract international talent and encourage professionals from across the world to build their careers in India.
The startup founders highlighted the rapid progress of India’s private space industry and shared their plans for its future. They said their companies had invested heavily in developing indigenous technologies and capabilities while acknowledging the support provided by the government.
The founders noted growing interest from other industries in adopting technologies developed by private space companies. They highlighted strong government support and industry collaboration.
PM Modi urged startups to develop practical applications and partner with other sectors, including environmental and agricultural organisations.
