PM Modi Likely To Launch Kerala Campaign From Thrissur

PM Narendra Modi is likely to arrive in Thrissur on March 29, giving a significant push to the BJP-led NDA’s campaign ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections.

The visit will centre on campaigning for BJP candidate Padmaja Venugopal.

According to initial indications, the Prime Minister will take part in campaign activities, including a major roadshow expected to draw significant public attention.

Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of former Congress Chief Minister K Karunakaran, has emerged as a key candidate in the constituency.

She contested the Thrissur Assembly seat in 2016 and 2021 as a Congress candidate and finished second on both occasions.

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and actively campaigned for actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who went on to win the seat.

Party sources said PM Modi may also make a brief stop in Palakkad before reaching Thrissur, though the final itinerary is yet to be confirmed.

The proposed roadshow, likely to feature both PM Modi and Padmaja, will serve as a key campaign event in central Kerala.

The constituency has gained increased political attention in recent elections, making it a crucial battleground.

The Prime Minister aims to strengthen the NDA’s position in a state traditionally dominated by the CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF.

With polling approaching, parties have intensified high-profile campaigning, reflecting the significance of the contest.

Officials will announce further details on the Prime Minister’s schedule and roadshow route in the coming days.
