PM Modi, Leaders Extend Birthday Greetings To Arunachal CM Pema Khandu

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on his birthday, praising his style of governance and emphasis on youth welfare.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Warm birthday wishes to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu Ji. He has made a mark with his pro-people governance and focus on youth development. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended wishes. He highlighted Khandu’s role in driving growth in the frontier state.

Warm birthday greetings to Shri @PemaKhanduBJP Ji. Your dedicated service, under the leadership of Modi Ji, in making Arunachal Pradesh a beacon of development and empowering its citizens is commendable. I pray for your long and healthy life,” Shah posted.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Khandu’s leadership, stating, “Greetings to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri @PemaKhanduBJP on his birthday. Under his dynamic leadership, Arunachal Pradesh is marching towards progress, peace and prosperity.”

Additionally, Rajnath Singh wished him good health and a long life devoted to public service.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also conveyed his message.

Taking to X, he posted, “Extending my heartfelt birthday wishes to the Lok Sabha MP from Union Territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli Smt. Delkar Kalaben Mohanbhai Ji. May this occasion bring joy and the year ahead be filled with health and prosperity.”

Early Life and Career

Pema Khandu, born on 21 August 1979 in Tawang to former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, turned 46 this year.

Khandu entered politics after the passing of his father in 2011. The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet inducted him as Minister for Water Resource Development and Tourism.

Khandu won unopposed from the Mukto constituency in a by-election the same year.

In July 2016, he became Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. That year, his government shifted alliances twice:

  • First joining the People’s Party of Arunachal in September, and
  • Aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party in December
