Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday participated in the Vishwa Navkar Mahamantra Divas at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. He sat among the public and joined thousands in chanting the sacred Jain mantra.
After the mass chanting, PM Modi addressed the gathering.
The Prime Minister urged the people to adopt nine resolutions for a better future.
“We have chanted the Navkar Mantra in such large numbers today. I want everyone to take nine resolutions,” PM Modi said.
These included saving water, planting a tree in one’s mother’s name, promoting cleanliness, going vocal for local products, encouraging ‘Desh Darshan’, adopting natural farming, embracing a healthy lifestyle, practicing yoga and sports, and helping the poor.
The Prime Minister said he still felt the spiritual energy of the mantra within. “The Navkar Mahamantra is not just a chant—it’s a guiding force and a new direction for our new generation,” he added.
PM Modi ended his address by bowing to the Jain community and Jain monks.
Taking to X, Prime Minister Modi posted, “Navkar Mahamantra embodies humility, peace and universal harmony. Delighted to take part in the Vishwa Navkar Mahamantra Divas programme.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi urged citizens to chant the mantra together at 8:27 AM. He called it the ‘center of our faith’ that brings peace, strength, and harmony.
Vishwa Navkar Mahamantra Divas is celebrated annually on April 9. The day promotes peace, non-violence, and spiritual harmony through mass chanting of Jainism’s most revered mantra.
The mantra honors the five supreme beings—Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, and all Sadhus—symbolizing Jain values.
This year in Surat, over 10,000 people gathered for collective chanting. JITO USA organized a 24-hour chant, encouraging Jains in North America to participate in the global event.
