PM Modi & Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Nahyan Explore Expanded Cooperation; Including AI Partnership

Narendra Modi met Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Thursday.

They focused their discussions on deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, PM Modi and the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince revisited the long-standing historical ties between India and the United Arab Emirates.

They reaffirmed the strong foundations that continue to anchor bilateral relations.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the steady progress achieved across multiple sectors.

They also identified new avenues to intensify cooperation in AI and advanced technologies. The Crown Prince attended the summit on behalf of the UAE President.

The high-level gathering marked the first time the event was hosted in the Global South.

Several Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Presidents, senior officials and leading decision-makers from the AI sector participated in the conference.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi late on Wednesday.

Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, received him at the airport.

Welcoming the Crown Prince, the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the trusted strategic partnership between India and the UAE, particularly in advanced technologies.

The ministry noted that both nations continue to collaborate closely to harness AI for a smarter and shared future.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Addressing the global audience, PM Modi described the summit as a landmark occasion for the Global South.

He emphasised the urgent need to promote responsible and ethical deployment of artificial intelligence in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

PM Modi underscored India’s stature as a nation representing one-sixth of humanity, with a vast youth demographic and one of the world’s largest technology ecosystems.

He stated that India both develops and adopts emerging technologies at scale.

During PM Modi’s address, AI-enabled sign language interpretation appeared on screen, demonstrating the practical applications of artificial intelligence discussed at the summit.
