PM Modi Inaugurates Rising North East Summit; Calls Region India’s ‘Ashtalakshmi’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising North East Investors Summit on Friday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi praised the North East as the most diverse region of India, emphasising its unique role in the country’s cultural and economic landscape.

PM Modi said that the North East is the most diverse part of India, which he described as the most diverse country in the world.

“From trade to tradition, from textiles to tourism, its diversity is its greatest strength,” PM Modi noted.

PM Modi Outlines Region’s Resources

PM Modi outlined the region’s rich resources and strategic advantages.

“North-East means bio-economy and bamboo, tea production and petroleum, sports and skill, ecotourism, organic products, and a powerhouse of energy,” he said.

Calling the region ‘Ashtalakshmi’, PM Modi said every North Eastern state is ready for investment and leadership.

PM Underscores Eastern India’s Development

The Prime Minister underscored the central role of Eastern India, particularly the North East, in India’s broader developmental ambitions.

“For the building of a developed India, the development of Eastern India is very important, and the North-East is the most crucial part of Eastern India,” PM Modi asserted.

Prime Minister Modi also redefined the word ‘EAST’ as the government’s guiding principle for the region:

  • Empower,
  • Act,
  • Strengthen, and
  • Transform

Rising North East Summit Aims To Boost Investment

The two-day Rising North East Summit aims to showcase the region as a hub for global and domestic investment.

Held at Bharat Mandapam, the summit unites leaders to explore the North East’s investment and growth potential.

PM Modi urged the nation and investors to harness the North East’s potential in building a Viksit Bharat.
