On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several key development projects in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, aimed at boosting the region’s infrastructure and agricultural growth.
Among the highlights of the visit was the foundation stone laying of the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project, the country’s first interlinking of rivers under the national perspective plan.
This project will provide irrigation facilities to districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting lakhs of farming families in both states.
In his address, PM Modi stated, “In one year of (chief minister) Mohan Yadav’s government, development has gained a new momentum. Today also, development projects worth thousands of rupees have started here. The Ken-Betwa link project has also been approved. I congratulate the people of MP for these projects.”
The Prime Minister also marked the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by releasing a commemorative stamp and coin in his honor.
Additionally, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for 1,153 Atal Gram Sushasan buildings, which will significantly contribute to the effective functioning of Gram Panchayats and promote good governance at the local level.
PM Modi also inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh.
According to a release, the project will help reduce carbon emissions, support the Government’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2070, and contribute to water conservation by minimizing water evaporation.
