Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He interacted with a holographic avatar of Swami Chinmayananda and recalled meeting the spiritual leader in 1993.
PM Modi sought his blessings for future endeavours, while Swami Chinmayananda’s hologram said, “India is with you, Narendra.”
PM Modi described the interaction as a unique spiritual experience and thanked the Chinmaya Mission for organising the event. He said the technology brought back memories of his meeting with the spiritual leader 33 years ago.
The Prime Minister recalled meeting Swami Chinmayananda in February or March 1993 to invite him to the centenary celebrations of the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago.
The spiritual leader accepted the invitation but passed away on August 3, weeks before the programme. Prime Minister Modi attended the gathering on September 11, 1993, and felt his absence.
Recalling their discussions on youth empowerment and nation-building, Prime Minister Modi said he had served as head of government for 25 years with the spiritual leader’s blessings.
The three-day conference, running from October 23 to 25, marks 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission, founded in 1951 to spread Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita teachings.
Celebrations included havans, temple consecration, Gita chanting and a 40,000-km nationwide yatra.
Delighted to join the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan. The Chinmaya Mission has spent decades serving communities and sharing India’s spiritual wisdom with the world. https://t.co/gvALnWbo91
