PM Modi Inaugurates CG Semi OSAT Facility, Says Sanand Is India’s Silicon Valley

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the CG Semi OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat. He described the project as a symbol of India’s growing technological strength.

PM Modi said the facility reflects the country’s expanding capabilities in advanced manufacturing. He further said Sanand is rapidly emerging as India’s answer to Silicon Valley, reflecting the country’s commitment to innovation and advanced manufacturing.

The Prime Minister noted that the project progressed swiftly after its foundation stone was laid in 2024.

The facility began chip testing in August 2025 and has now commenced full commercial production.

The Prime Minister said the achievement demonstrates the success of the ‘Design in India, Make in India’ vision and India’s determination to deliver projects efficiently.

PM Modi praised the Indo-Japanese-Thai collaboration behind the project. He further described the partnership as a model of international technological trust that will strengthen India’s semiconductor ambitions.

During his visit, PM Modi interacted with young employees and applauded their confidence and commitment.

The Prime Minister highlighted the journey of young tribal women from modest families. They received advanced training in Malaysia and now manufacture world-class semiconductor chips in Gujarat. He further said their success reflects India’s expanding opportunities in high-technology industries.

PM Modi stressed that sustainable industrial growth depends on creating complete ecosystems rather than standalone factories. He compared Sanand with Silicon Valley, Taiwan’s Hsinchu Science Park and Japan’s Tsukuba Science City.

The Prime Minister said Sanand will emerge as a major semiconductor cluster. The hub will include chemical plants, testing laboratories, design centres and startups. He also underlined the importance of achieving self-reliance in critical minerals and advanced materials to strengthen the semiconductor value chain.

Expressing confidence in India’s youth, PM Modi said ‘Made in India’ chips will power future breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and robotics.

Reaffirming policy stability and ease of doing business, PM Modi invited global investors to participate in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
