PM Modi Honours Swami Vivekananda’s Legacy Of Confidence, Service & Cultural Pride

On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s death anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt homage to the revered monk and spiritual icon.

Currently on a five-nation tour, PM Modi took to social media platform X to reflect on Swami Vivekananda’s lasting influence on India and the world.

“I bow to Swami Vivekananda Ji on his Punya Tithi. His thoughts and vision for our society remain our guiding light.  He ignited a sense of pride and confidence in our history and cultural heritage. He also emphasised walking the path of service and compassion,” PM Modi wrote.

Vivekananda’s enduring message

Swami Vivekananda passed away on 4 July 1902. As a philosopher, monk, and nationalist, he played a vital role in awakening India’s spiritual consciousness and national identity.

It was at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893 that he famously introduced India’s philosophical and cultural depth to the world, earning widespread admiration for his message of peace, unity, and brotherhood.

His powerful exhortation, ‘Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached’, continues to inspire countless young people to pursue personal growth and social progress.

Tributes from national leaders

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Swami Vivekananda as the torchbearer of India’s intellectual and spiritual resurgence.

Additionally, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, calling him an enduring symbol of inspiration for the global youth.

“We are committed to realising his dream of a prosperous and progressive India,” Singh added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also paid tribute to the spiritual leader while reaffirming her commitment to preserving his ancestral home.

“Swamiji’s message of universal brotherhood is deeply relevant today,” she wrote, adding that true religion lies in humanity and mutual respect.

Swami Vivekananda’s contributions go beyond philosophy.

He established the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897, blending spiritual wisdom with social service.

The Mission further continues to impact education, health, and humanitarian sectors across India and abroad.

Meanwhile, as India advances into the 21st century, PM Modi and other leaders reaffirmed that Swami Vivekananda’s ideals will continue to shape the country’s vision of inclusive growth, youth empowerment, and spiritual resilience.

His life remains a guiding force in the nation’s journey towards self-realisation and global harmony.
