PM Modi Honours Dr Kasturirangan’s Visionary Contributions To ISRO & Education

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, the former head of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in the 121st episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat.

Dr Kasturirangan, ISRO’s head from 1994 to 2003, is remembered for his pivotal contributions to India’s space programme and education system.

A Visionary Leader In Space Science

PM Modi acknowledged Dr Kasturirangan’s extraordinary role in elevating India’s space programme to global recognition.

Under his leadership, ISRO made significant strides, launching key satellites that continue to support India’s space capabilities today.

PM Modi highlighted Dr Kasturirangan’s visionary leadership, crediting him with giving ISRO a new identity and earning global acclaim.

PM Modi recalled their discussions, which often focused on India’s youth potential, space science, and the future of education.

“Whenever I met Dr Kasturirangan, we used to discuss a lot about the talent of India’s youth, modern education, and space science,” the Prime Minister recalled.

Dr Kasturirangan’s Contribution To Education

PM Modi also highlighted Dr Kasturirangan’s contributions to India’s education system, alongside his work in space science.

PM Modi praised Dr Kasturirangan’s role in shaping the NEP for a future-ready education system.

Prime Minister Modi noted that Dr Kasturirangan’s emphasis on innovation and lifelong learning has greatly influenced India’s educational landscape.

“There was another remarkable aspect of his personality which the younger generation can truly learn from. He always gave importance to innovation. The vision of always learning something new, knowing and doing something new is truly inspiring,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi concluded his tribute by acknowledging Dr Kasturirangan’s selfless service to the nation and his lasting impact on India’s development.

The Prime Minister honoured the late scientist, stating that his contributions to science, education, and nation-building will always be remembered.

Earlier, PM Modi had expressed his grief over Dr Kasturirangan’s passing on social media, recalling his visionary leadership and immense contributions to the space and education sectors.

PM Modi honoured Dr Kasturirangan as a mentor, emphasising his lasting legacy inspiring India’s scientific community.
