PM Modi Holds Mega Roadshow In Siliguri After Day-Long Campaign In Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday concluded a packed campaign schedule in West Bengal with a mega roadshow at Bagdogra near Siliguri in Darjeeling district, ahead of the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections later this month.

Thousands of people lined the streets as the Prime Minister’s convoy passed through, raising slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’ and ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

The roadshow followed three major campaign rallies held earlier in the day across different districts of the state.

At the start of the roadshow, PM Modi was seen seated in the front of his vehicle, waving at the crowds. As the procession progressed, he leaned out of the window and continued greeting supporters, many of whom were carrying replicas of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s lotus symbol.

The direct engagement appeared to energise the crowd further, with slogans growing louder as the convoy moved along the route.

Raju Bista, a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Darjeeling, shared a video of the event on social media, describing the turnout as a reflection of PM Modi’s popularity.

“Today in Siliguri, thousands of people lined up to welcome him to our beautiful region. He obliged by greeting the people in person. What an extraordinary sight it is to see so much love and respect for our beloved PM, and him reciprocating that love by meeting the people in person spontaneously,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi addressed rallies in Katwa in East Burdwan district, Jangipur in Murshidabad district, and Kushmandi in South Dinajpur district.

The West Bengal Assembly elections will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, and the process concludes with the announcement of results on May 4.
