Prime Minister Narendra Modi said youth from villages, towns and smaller cities are increasingly driving India’s new economy and expanding its startup ecosystem.
PM Modi made the remarks while distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 20th Rozgar Mela. The event was held at 45 locations across the country.
The Prime Minister said India has become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, with nearly half of its recognised startups located in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
He said young entrepreneurs from smaller towns are developing their own ideas, setting up companies and creating employment opportunities for others.
PM Modi also highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, launched with an outlay of around ₹1 lakh crore.
He said the scheme aims to help around two crore young people enter the workforce for the first time. First-time job seekers can receive incentives of up to ₹15,000, while employers creating new jobs will also receive incentives.
He said economic growth, higher investment, new industries and expanding sectors are essential for creating more opportunities for young people. The government, he added, is working across sectors to increase employment.
Addressing the new recruits, PM Modi urged them to use their government service to ensure that citizens do not face the difficulties and hardships experienced by earlier generations.
He urged them to make public service their mission and continuously upgrade their skills through Mission Karmayogi.
More than 1.70 crore government employees have joined the iGOT Karmayogi platform, while the government designed ‘Karmayogi Prarambh’ specifically for new recruits.
PM Modi said continuous self-improvement would enable government employees to serve citizens more effectively.
