PM Modi Highlights India’s Healthcare Progress Under #12YearsOfSwasthBharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the transformation of India’s healthcare sector over the past 12 years, emphasising the government’s efforts to make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible for citizens across the country.

Sharing a message on social media with the hashtag #12YearsOfSwasthBharat, PM Modi said India has made significant strides in expanding healthcare services and ensuring that essential medical treatment reaches even the most vulnerable sections of society. He expressed pride in Ayushman Bharat, describing it as the world’s largest healthcare programme and a major step towards providing quality healthcare coverage to millions of people.

PM Modi highlighted the impact of key healthcare initiatives, noting that the PM Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana has made medicines more affordable, while reduced prices of stents and knee implants have improved access to treatment. He also pointed to the expansion of medical education through new institutions and increased seats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.

Introduced in 2018, Ayushman Bharat has expanded health insurance coverage for millions of families.

PM Modi said the scheme reflects the government’s focus on supporting poor and middle-class households by providing eligible beneficiaries with health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. He also highlighted the contribution of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Jan Aushadhi Kendras and digital health initiatives, noting that Ayushman Cards and Jan Aushadhi Kendras have helped families save nearly ₹2.25 lakh crore in healthcare costs.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible, affordable healthcare for all.
