Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted India’s Global South-focused energy vision for BRICS 2026. He stressed a secure, resilient, equitable and sustainable global energy future.

Khattar said the global energy sector is changing rapidly. He stressed that developing economies need stronger cooperation and innovation to balance growth, energy security and sustainability.

Manohar Lal Khattar said India would use its BRICS Chairship to convert shared aspirations into measurable outcomes. He said the country would strengthen collaboration in energy access, clean energy transition, technology and innovation.

Khattar highlighted India’s achievements in expanding electricity access, increasing renewable energy generation and enhancing non-fossil fuel capacity. He noted that India has already crossed 50 per cent installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources ahead of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target.

The Minister also highlighted initiatives including coal gasification, green hydrogen, electric mobility and transmission network expansion to reinforce energy security. He underscored the role of smart meters and the India Energy Stack in modernising the power sector.

Khattar said the complementary strengths of the BRICS nations can build resilient and sustainable energy systems. He said stronger international cooperation can advance the interests of the Global South.
