PM Modi Highlights Impact Of Jan Suraksha Schemes After 11 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasised that the Centre’s flagship insurance and pension schemes represent its dedication towards ensuring financial protection and social dignity for people across India. He made the remarks as the Jan Suraksha initiatives marked 11 years since their introduction in 2015.

The government launched the three schemes, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), to offer affordable insurance and pension benefits, especially to economically vulnerable and underserved communities.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “On this day, 11 years ago, key social security and pension schemes were launched by the NDA Government. They reflect our commitment to bring dignity, assurance and financial security into the lives of the people of India. This thread highlights that the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana have had a positive impact at the grassroots.”

Government data showed that the combined enrolment under the three Jan Suraksha schemes has crossed 94.5 crore over the last 11 years. More than 27.43 crore people have joined PMJJBY, while PMSBY has enrolled over 58.09 crore subscribers.

The Atal Pension Yojana has attracted more than 9.04 crore beneficiaries till April 30.

The Prime Minister stated that the Atal Pension Yojana has helped many individuals achieve greater financial confidence during old age. He also highlighted that a large number of women have benefited from the scheme.

According to him, this has strengthened financial inclusion across different sections of society.

PM Modi further noted that the government remained focused on expanding the reach of social welfare programmes. He said the effort aimed to ensure inclusive growth.

According to official figures, PMJJBY has settled claims exceeding ₹21,500 crore, benefiting over 10.7 lakh families nationwide. PMSBY, meanwhile, has provided claim settlements worth more than ₹3,660 crore to around 1.84 lakh families.

The government introduced these schemes to improve insurance and pension accessibility while helping citizens tackle financial uncertainties more effectively.

Officials believe the programmes have played a key role in strengthening economic security. They also said the initiatives encouraged broader participation in social protection schemes across the country.
