PM Modi Highlights Bengaluru Institute, Naga Education Practices

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded innovative approaches to education, emphasising the importance of continuous learning and active participation.

Speaking during the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, he noted that hands-on experience and practice play a crucial role in strengthening knowledge and intellectual growth.

Highlighting a unique initiative in Bengaluru, the Prime Minister referred to the work of the Prayog Institute of Education Research, which focuses on research-driven educational projects.

He said the organisation is promoting science education at the school level through its ‘Anveshan’ programme, offering students from Classes 9 to 12 opportunities to innovate in fields such as Chemistry, Earth Science and wellness.

He noted that such initiatives provide students with valuable exposure to research while also offering a platform to present and publish their work, thereby nurturing curiosity and confidence among young learners.

Recalling his interaction with students during Pareeksha Pe Charcha, the Prime Minister said some students had expressed hesitation in pursuing science due to fear of the subject.

He observed that initiatives like those undertaken by the Prayog team help students engage with science in a practical manner, making the subject more accessible and interesting.

The Prime Minister also praised the Naga community for successfully blending traditional knowledge with modern education.

Referring to practices in Nagaland, he highlighted the traditional Morung system, where elders pass on knowledge, history and life skills to younger generations.

He said this system has evolved to incorporate modern subjects such as mathematics and science, while retaining its cultural roots through storytelling, folk songs and traditional games.

Emphasising the importance of such models, the Prime Minister said these efforts not only strengthen education but also preserve cultural heritage, ensuring holistic development for future generations.
