PM Modi Hands Over Keys Of GPRA Type-5 Quarters To Women Allottees In Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Project in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi, on Sunday and handed over the keys of Type-5 quarters to women allottees.

The redevelopment projects are spread across key locations including Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri. They are part of the government’s initiative to modernise GPRA colonies and build improved infrastructure for government employees and administrative offices.

The projects, valued at ₹15,200 crore, are being implemented under an innovative self-sustainable financial model designed to avoid placing a burden on the public exchequer.

Under this model, a limited portion of the project area is developed and monetised for commercial and residential purposes. Revenue generated from these developments is used to fund the construction of modern government housing, along with supporting infrastructure and public facilities.

The redevelopment plan aims to provide more than 9,350 modern flats for government employees. It also includes the development of approximately 48 lakh square feet of office space.

Officials say the project will significantly improve administrative efficiency while also creating additional monetisation opportunities.

Metro Projects Worth ₹18,300 Crore

Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Delhi Metro projects worth around ₹18,300 crore.

He will inaugurate two new corridors: the Majlis Park–Maujpur Babarpur corridor on the Pink Line, covering about 12.3 km, and the Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park corridor on the Magenta Line, spanning about 9.9 km.

The new connectivity is expected to benefit several areas in Delhi, including Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa, and Majlis Park.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase V-A with a total route length of about 16.10 km.

The proposed routes include R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. These corridors aim to improve connectivity across the national capital, particularly for commuters travelling between Noida, South Delhi and the airport.
