PM Modi Hails Youth, Women Driving India’s Semiconductor Revolution At Gujarat’s CG Semi Plant

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has applauded the dedication of employees at the newly operational CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, saying talented young professionals are powering the country’s semiconductor ambitions. He gave special recognition to women from tribal and remote regions who have successfully trained for careers in advanced chip manufacturing.

Posting on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister described his conversations with employees as one of the most meaningful experiences of his Gujarat visit.

While interacting with the workforce, PM Modi spoke to a young woman who explained how her job had transformed attitudes towards girls’ education in her village. She said families that once discouraged daughters from leaving home for studies now view her success with pride, encouraging other young women to pursue similar careers.

The Prime Minister also met Kaushal Kumar from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, who was visiting Gujarat for the first time.

Prime Minister Modi later interacted with a woman from Jharkhand’s Giridih district, who joined the company after completing an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) course. She said her employment had enabled her to gain international exposure while proving wrong those who had underestimated her ambitions.

PM Modi inaugurated the ₹7,500 crore CG Semi OSAT facility on Saturday, making it the third semiconductor manufacturing unit to begin commercial operations under the India Semiconductor Mission.

The facility will package and test semiconductor chips for the automotive, industrial and consumer electronics industries, strengthening India’s domestic electronics supply chain.
