PM Modi Hails Kashi Tamil Sangamam For Strengthening National Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his best wishes as the fourth edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam commenced in Varanasi.

He described the cultural exchange programme as a vibrant celebration that deepens the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

In his message shared on X, the Prime Minister wished participants a memorable stay in Kashi and emphasised the event’s role in fostering unity among diverse regions of India.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, launched in 2022, aims to revive and celebrate the centuries-old civilisational, linguistic and spiritual links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.

The fourth edition, running from 2 to 15 December, continues this mission by bringing together students, scholars, artists and cultural enthusiasts from both regions.

The programme highlights the shared heritage that connects southern and northern India through literature, spirituality and cultural traditions.

Enthusiasm from Uttar Pradesh Leadership

Ahead of the inaugural ceremony, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his enthusiasm on X.

He also described the event as a powerful expression of Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat, taking place in the sacred city of Varanasi, home to Baba Vishwanath.

CM Yogi further praised the theme ‘Let Us Learn Tamil’, noting that it reflects the commitment to cultural integration and linguistic appreciation.

He added that under PM Modi’s leadership, ‘New India stands at the pinnacle of Vedic and cultural consciousness’.

A Programme with Growing Significance

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam has grown steadily in scale and significance. The first edition in 2022 saw strong participation from scholars, students and pilgrims.

The third edition, originally scheduled for December 2024, was held from 15 to 24 February 2025 due to rescheduling.

Officials have confirmed that the fourth edition will commence in Varanasi and will further conclude in Rameswaram, symbolically linking North and South India through a shared cultural journey.

This year’s theme, ‘Learn Tamil’, highlights the richness of the Tamil language and its classical literary tradition.

Furthermore, the programme places special emphasis on involving students from northern states, encouraging them to engage with Tamil literature, culture and history.

Additionally, Cultural performances, heritage tours, seminars and interactive sessions form a major part of the itinerary.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam continues to serve as a bridge between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, strengthening India’s unity through shared culture, language and spiritual heritage.
