CM Sharma Meets PM Modi; Sparks Buzz Over Cabinet Reshuffle Ahead Of Pravasi Rajasthani Sammelan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House on Tuesday, a development that has stirred strong political speculation in the state. The meeting comes just a day before a crucial cabinet gathering scheduled for Wednesday, heightening curiosity over potential administrative changes.

During the meeting, CM Sharma formally invited PM Modi to attend the inaugural Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas Sammelan on December 10 in Jaipur.

The large-scale event, being hosted at the JECC auditorium, aims to connect Rajasthanis across India and abroad while honouring their contributions.

The state fulfilled its commitment from last year’s Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit by announcing that it would celebrate the day annually.

Notably, Prime Minister Modi had inaugurated that summit on December 9, 2024.

As Rajasthan approaches its second anniversary under the current administration, discussions during the meeting also touched upon the government’s planned celebrations to highlight two years of governance achievements.

However, the political undercurrent of the meeting is drawing even more attention.

Political Signals Intensify

Following Sharma’s interaction with the Prime Minister, talk of a possible cabinet reshuffle has intensified. According to sources, the Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister on proposed changes and may have sought approval for the long-awaited expansion.

Though CM Sharma assumed office on December 15, 2023, and his council of ministers on December 30, 2023, several cabinet portfolios and political appointments remain pending nearly two years later.

Within the BJP, similar exercises in Madhya Pradesh and earlier in Chhattisgarh have raised expectations that Rajasthan, too, could witness major ministerial changes. Some insiders even believe the reshuffle may mirror Gujarat’s sweeping cabinet overhaul in 2022.

Adding to the momentum, CM Sharma has scheduled a cabinet meeting for Wednesday, December 3, at 3 PM, followed by a Council of Ministers meeting at 4 PM at the Secretariat.

His recent travel pattern is also drawing attention, as this was his second visit to Delhi within five days.

CM Sharma’s previous visit included discussions with Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri regarding the Barmer Refinery project.

The refinery inauguration, previously planned as part of the government’s second-anniversary events, has reportedly been postponed.

Meanwhile, CM Sharma’s November 13 Delhi visit had preceded a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, including the replacement of Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant with B Srinivas.

With momentum building on multiple fronts, the next 48 hours may prove decisive for Rajasthan’s political and administrative landscape.
