PM Modi Hails Gujarat Security Guard For Unique Tribute To Martyrs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Jitendra Singh Rathore, a security guard from Surat, Gujarat, for his extraordinary dedication to honouring India’s martyrs.

Describing Rathore as a ‘great inspiration for every patriot’, PM Modi said his work offers the nation a ‘true lesson’ in patriotism.

During the 125th episode of his monthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister highlighted Rathore’s initiative of collecting detailed information about soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, beginning with those who fought in the First World War.

A Lifelong Tribute to Martyrs

Prime Minister Modi explained that for several years, Rathore has painstakingly documented the lives of thousands of brave soldiers, amassing photographs and personal details of martyrs.

“He has collected information on thousands of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives since the First World War. He also has thousands of photographs of the martyrs,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The Prime Minister recalled that a conversation with a martyr’s father inspired Rathore’s passion for patriotism.

“The martyr’s father said, “So what if my son is gone, the country is safe, isn’t it?’ These words deeply inspired Jitendra Singh and filled his heart with love for the nation,” PM Modi said, adding that Rathore maintains close contact with the families of soldiers who died in the line of duty.

Rathore has even collected soil from beneath the feet of the parents of around 2,500 martyrs, demonstrating his profound respect and attachment to India’s armed forces.

“Jitendra Ji’s life teaches us the true lesson of patriotism,” PM Modi emphasised.

This recognition underscores the Prime Minister’s effort to highlight ordinary citizens whose extraordinary dedication strengthens the national spirit and pays homage to the country’s heroes.
