PM Modi Hails BJP’s Historic Thiruvananthapuram Sweep; Signals Kerala’s Political Shift

Bharatiya Janata Party’s stunning breakthrough in Kerala’s capital has drawn strong praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who described the victory as a decisive signal of political transformation in the state.

VV Rajesh, the BJP’s newly elected Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, on December 30, 2025, shared a congratulatory letter from the Prime Minister lauding the party’s unprecedented success in winning 50 wards and ending decades of uninterrupted LDF-UDF dominance in the city.

In his message, Prime Minister Modi underlined the historic nature of the mandate and credited the victory to sustained grassroots effort, discipline, and resilience.

He acknowledged the perseverance of BJP workers who, he said, continued their political journey despite facing violence, intimidation, and entrenched systems of governance.

PM Modi asserted that the results reflected a growing public resolve to move beyond stagnation and embrace development-focused leadership.

The Prime Minister framed the verdict as more than a municipal triumph. He described it as an unmistakable indicator that the people of Kerala’s capital aspire for transparent administration, accountable urban governance, and opportunities rooted in growth and innovation.

PM Modi emphasised that the electorate’s trust stemmed from consistent outreach and a clear vision rather than momentary political momentum.

Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi and Sree Narayana Guru, PM Modi urged the newly elected representatives to practice politics anchored in selfless service and compassion.

He called upon the leadership to remain accessible, empathetic, and people-centric while addressing the everyday challenges of urban life.

The Prime Minister stressed that governance must prioritise dignity, inclusiveness, and social harmony alongside infrastructure and economic progress.

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted that the victory symbolised the expansion of inclusive politics in Kerala, a state long defined by bipolar competition.

He noted that the BJP’s performance demonstrated the credibility of an alternative political narrative that places development, efficient administration, and ethical leadership at the centre of public life.

According to him, the mandate reflected voters’ readiness to reward perseverance and performance over rhetoric.

Mayor VV Rajesh described the Prime Minister’s message as a source of motivation for the newly formed civic leadership.

He reiterated that the BJP administration in Thiruvananthapuram would focus on clean governance, citizen-centric urban planning, and transparent service delivery.

Rajesh asserted that the party would honour the mandate by working across communities and ensuring that development reached every ward.
