PM Modi Extends Greetings As Sacred Guru Charan Yatra Begins Its Journey To Takht Sri Patna Sahib

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conveyed his warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of the Guru Charan Yatra. He also reflected on the enduring teachings and spiritual legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur.

Urging citizens, particularly those residing along the route of the yatra, to take part in the sacred journey, the Prime Minister encouraged devotees to seek blessings and have darshan of the revered ‘Jore Sahib’.

Responding to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s post on X, PM Modi posted, “May the Guru Charan Yatra deepen our connect with the noble ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. I urge people in the areas this yatra will cover to come and have Darshan of the holy ‘Jore Sahib’.”

Earlier, taking to X, Hardeep Singh Puri posted, “The holy Jore Sahib “Charan Suhawa” of the founder of Khalsa Panth, Dasam Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji have been with our family for more than 300 years.”

He further expressed, “Today, I feel humbled that my family will hand over the custody of the holy relics to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. A special Kirtan Samagam will be held at Gurdwara Moti Bagh today, October 22, 2025 where the devotees will be able to have a darshan of the holy Jore Sahib.”

Following the ceremony, the holy Jore Sahib will embark on the Guru Charan Yatra and take its place permanently at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, allowing devotees to offer their prayers and pay homage.

Route and Schedule of Guru Charan Yatra

As detailed by Union Minister Puri, the yatra will commence on 23 October from Gurdwara Moti Bagh, reaching Faridabad by night.

The journey will continue through multiple cities:

  • Faridabad to Agra on 24 October,
  • Bareilly on 25 October,
  • Mahangapur on 26 October,
  • Lucknow on 27 October,
  • Kanpur on 28 October, and
  • Prayagraj on 29 October

On 30 October, it will, however, proceed through Varanasi to Sasaram, reaching Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh in Patna Sahib on 31 October.

The yatra will culminate on 1 November at Takht Sri Patna Sahib.

After being preserved by Union Minister Puri’s family for nearly three centuries, the sacred footwear of Sri Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur will now be permanently housed at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, returning to the birthplace of the tenth Sikh Guru.
