On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his birthday greetings to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and wished him a healthy and long life.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister posted, “Birthday greetings to Himachal Pradesh CM Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Ji. Praying for his long and healthy life.”
Celebrations for CM Sukhu’s 62nd birthday were held on Wednesday at his official residence, ‘Oakover’, where a large gathering, including Cabinet Ministers, MLAs from various political parties, government officials, and supporters, came together to offer their wishes.
Wearing traditional attire, enthusiastic supporters arrived at Oakover with drums and nagaras, dancing and offering their good wishes.
Party members also cut cakes and prayed for the Chief Minister’s well-being.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also wished the Chief Minister over a phone call.
To mark the occasion, the State Youth Congress organized a blood donation drive at the Ridge in Shimla.
CM Sukhu also flagged off a walkathon focused on spreading social awareness.
The event, held by the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat Services Sports Control Board, began at the Secretariat and concluded back at the same venue after passing through Mall Road.
During the celebrations, the Chief Minister distributed ‘halwa’ and took part in the walkathon up to Oakover.
Speaking at the event, he said the walkathon aimed to raise awareness on issues such as road safety, environmental conservation, and social concerns.
Upon reaching the Assembly, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania welcomed him with a framed photograph. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan also joined the event.
