Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited young professionals in government departments via video conferencing on Tuesday. This move, seen as a major step towards boosting youth employment, also marked Diwali celebrations.
Addressing the recipients, PM Modi noted this Diwali’s unique significance, mentioning, “After 500 years, Lord Shri Ram is now seated in his grand temple in Ayodhya, making this the first Diwali celebrated since his installation. We are all fortunate to witness such a special Diwali.” He extended his congratulations to the new appointees, adding, “Our commitment to providing permanent government jobs to lakhs of young Indians continues.”
The Prime Minister highlighted extensive infrastructure development across India, mentioning projects such as expressways, fibre networks, schools, and colleges. “These initiatives aim not only to improve infrastructure but also to lower logistics costs and boost employment,” he said. During his recent Vadodara visit, PM Modi inaugurated a new factory producing aircraft for the defense sector, which he said will create jobs directly and stimulate opportunities in MSMEs producing spare parts.
Additionally, Modi detailed the impact of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with over 5 lakh homes now equipped with solar panels and plans for 800 solar villages. “This initiative is providing jobs to thousands, as 9,000 vendors assist in installations nationwide,” he noted.
Discussing the Lakhpati Didi scheme, PM Modi acknowledged the role of rural self-help groups (SHGs) in generating employment for women. “In the past decade, 10 crore women have joined SHGs, and we aim for 3 crore of them to become Lakhpati Didis. Already, 1.25 crore have achieved this status,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s migration agreements with countries like Germany and the UK, which increase work visas for Indian youth. “India now has agreements with 21 countries, including Japan, Australia, and Gulf nations, creating international employment pathways for skilled workers,” he said.
PM Modi emphasized the Skill India Mission, underscoring the Pradhan Mantri Internship scheme, which offers paid internships in leading companies to train the youth. “We aim to provide internships to one crore youth in the next five years,” he added.
By organizing Rozgar Melas, the government aims to streamline hiring, empowering young people to actively contribute to India’s growth story.
