Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed 51,236 appointment letters to newly-recruited candidates in central government departments and organisations during the 15th Rozgar Mela held on Saturday.
This event, which took place virtually, was coordinated across 47 locations nationwide.
In his address, PM Modi congratulated the new appointees, emphasising the crucial role they would play in strengthening the nation.
“With your new responsibilities, you now play a key part in strengthening India’s economy, infrastructure, internal security, and the welfare of its people. The more dedicated you are, the faster we progress towards a Viksit Bharat (Developed India),” he said.
Highlighting the significance of youth in the nation’s progress, PM Modi stressed their contribution to India’s growing global influence.
“If the youth are stakeholders in a country’s development, then rapid growth follows. Today, India’s youth are proving their potential,” he added.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of self-employment opportunities and how various initiatives, such as Skill India, Startup India, and Digital India, have created platforms for innovation and talent.
“In this decade, our youth have taken India to unprecedented heights in technology and innovation. Platforms like UPI, ONDC, and GeM show how young Indians are leading digital transformation,” he stated.

He also cited the remarkable growth in sectors like automobile, footwear, and Khadi, with Khadi and cottage industries crossing a turnover of Rs 1.7 lakh crore.
Touching on the growth in India’s infrastructure, PM Modi highlighted the significant rise in inland water transport.
“From 18 million tonnes in 2014, cargo via waterways has surged to 145 million tonnes this year. National waterways have increased from just 5 to over 110, with the operational network now touching nearly 5,000 km,” he stated.
He also spoke about the upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) in Mumbai, where India’s youth will be at the forefront.
“The focus of this event is also on the youth of the country. For the first time, the country’s young creators are getting such a platform,” he noted.
The Prime Minister celebrated the growing participation of women in India’s progress, citing the recent UPSC exam results where women clinched the top two ranks.
“The most heartening part of our youth’s progress is its inclusivity. Our daughters are excelling,” he remarked.
PM Modi also acknowledged the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus on training the youth.
“The youth will get the opportunity to learn and understand AI and emerging media. Various workshops will be organised for this purpose, bringing new energy to India’s digital content future,” he explained.
Encouraging the new recruits to contribute to society, PM Modi highlighted the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, which invites youth to plant trees in honour of their mothers.
“This is a beautiful way to give back to the country,” he said.
Concluding his address, PM Modi reiterated the vision for a developed and prosperous India.
“Together, we will build a Bharat that will be ‘Viksit’ (developed) as well as ‘samriddh’ (prosperous),” he said.
Since its launch in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has led to the appointment of over 10 lakh individuals to permanent government jobs.
In previous editions, 75,000 appointment letters were distributed in the first edition, followed by 71,000 in the 14th edition held in December 2023.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to bridge employment gaps and provide meaningful opportunities for India’s youth.
