A humorous exchange unfolded at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence when Indian cricketer Harleen Deol asked him about his skincare routine.
The light-hearted moment occurred during the Indian women’s cricket team’s meeting with the Prime Minister following their victory over South Africa in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai.
The team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, visited the Prime Minister on Wednesday evening to celebrate their triumph. Amidst laughter and camaraderie, the players shared anecdotes from their World Cup journey, reflecting the spirit that united them throughout the tournament.
All-rounder Kranti Gaud initiated the conversation by telling the Prime Minister about the team’s unique motto, to keep smiling, no matter the pressure.
“Harman di always tells us that everyone should keep smiling,” Gaud said, explaining how the cheerful atmosphere became a team rule.
When PM Modi asked which player was the biggest mood-lifter, Kranti named Jemimah Rodrigues, who quickly credited Harleen Deol instead.
Harleen admitted that she enjoyed keeping the energy high, saying, “Every team should have someone who keeps the atmosphere light. I like seeing everyone happy.”
The Prime Minister chuckled and asked if she had done the same during their visit, to which Harleen responded with a laugh, “Yes, but we were told to stay quiet here!”
In a playful twist, Harleen asked, “Sir, what’s your skincare routine? You’re glowing so much!” The Prime Minister smiled and replied, “I haven’t really paid much attention to that. This glow is the love of crores of Indians; it’s a great source of strength.”
He went on to reflect that after 25 years in public service, the constant affection and blessings of people naturally reflect in one’s persona.
The candid exchange left everyone in the room smiling, capturing the warmth and mutual admiration between the nation’s leader and its cricketing champions.
