Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a robust address at an election rally in Araria, Bihar, today, aiming at the opposition with fervour. He didn’t mince words, particularly targeting the Congress party. “When I raise concerns about the Congress’s exclusive focus on Muslims, it seems to rile some individuals. Their ecosystem has been relentless in its attacks on me for weeks. Let me make it clear, in 25 years, despite their attempts to intimidate me, I’ve remained steadfast. It’s time they cease their efforts,” Modi asserted.
Referring to recent remarks by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Modi remarked, “Another old video of Dr. Manmohan Singh has surfaced, reiterating Muslims’ supposed first claim on the country’s resources. This revelation has sent shockwaves through the Congress and its ecosystem. However, my belief is clear: the nation’s resources belong first and foremost to its poor, labourers, farmers, mothers, and sisters, regardless of their religion. Modi’s vision prioritises the welfare of all citizens.”
The Prime Minister didn’t shy away from addressing historical grievances, accusing the Congress and RJD of attempting to dilute OBC reservations for political gain. “During their tenure in 2011, the cabinet of then-Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh attempted to divert OBC reservations towards religious vote banks. Fortunately, the judiciary intervened to prevent this unconstitutional move. The Congress and RJD are so entrenched in appeasement politics that they disregard constitutional principles. Now, they seek to undermine the reservation rights of Dalits, backward classes, and tribals,” Modi highlighted.
He further criticized the Congress’s pursuit of religion-based reservations, contrary to constitutional provisions. “Congress’s agenda reflects its Karnataka reservation model, aimed at extending religion-based reservations nationwide. However, the Constitution unequivocally opposes such measures. Congress’s disregard for constitutional norms is alarming,” Modi concluded.
