Upon arriving in Varanasi following a demanding day in Gujarat, PM Modi undertook a late-night inspection of the recently inaugurated Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara road around 11 pm.
The newly constructed road, built for Rs 360 crore, holds significant importance for approximately 5 lakh residents in the southern part, including those around BHU (Banaras Hindu University), BLW (Banaras Locomotive Works), etc. This infrastructural development facilitates smoother connectivity for people heading towards the airport, Lucknow, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur.
Not only does the road contribute to reducing traffic congestion, but it also brings about a substantial decrease in travel time. The journey from BHU to the airport, which used to take 75 minutes, is now trimmed down to 45 minutes. Similarly, the commute from Lahartara to Kachahri has been reduced from 30 minutes to a mere 15 minutes.
This successful project exemplifies effective inter-ministerial coordination, involving contributions from Railways and Defence. The collaborative efforts aim to enhance the overall quality of life for the citizens of Varanasi, marking a significant step towards improved ease of living.
On February 23, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to engage in various events during his visit to Uttar Pradesh. The day’s agenda includes his participation in a program at Swatantra Sabhagar, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, where he will distribute prizes to the winners of the Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita.
Beginning at 11:15 am, the Prime Minister will partake in ‘pooja’ and ‘darshan’ at Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali. Subsequently, at 11:30 am, he will be present at a public function dedicated to commemorating the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Modi will be part of another public event, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Varanasi. These projects, collectively valued at over Rs 13,000 crore, signify a significant commitment to the progress and prosperity of the region.
