A tragic incident unfolded in Noida Extension as a Class 12 student reportedly leaped from the 22nd floor of a building in a group housing society shortly after completing a board exam on Thursday. Police sources disclosed that the student, aged approximately 19 years, had faced academic difficulties previously, failing to clear the exam last year.
Authorities were alerted around 4:20 pm about the student’s demise at the Mahagun Mywoods Society. Upon arrival, police personnel, along with forensic experts, promptly responded to the scene. The parents of the deceased informed law enforcement that their son had returned home after taking the English Core exam for Class 12, subsequently heading to the terrace of the 22nd floor, where the tragic event occurred.
While investigations are ongoing, the police underscored the importance of recognizing behavioral changes in individuals, emphasizing the role of family, friends, and mental health professionals in providing support and intervention to prevent such tragic outcomes.
In efforts to address mental health crises, authorities in Uttar Pradesh have consistently urged citizens, including students, to utilize the emergency helpline number 112 for assistance in cases involving suicidal ideation.
