PM Modi Condoles Deaths Of Indian Tourists In Vietnam Boat Accident

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over the speedboat accident near Phu Quoc, Vietnam, which claimed the lives of at least 15 Indian tourists and left several others injured. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the tragedy had deeply saddened him. He also assured that the Government of India stands with the affected families during this difficult time.

The speedboat was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four crew members from Hon May Rut to An Thoi Port when it overturned about 400 metres off the coast.

Rough weather and difficult sea conditions reportedly contributed to the accident.

India’s Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General are working closely with Vietnamese authorities to assist survivors and support the families of those affected.

Officials are coordinating rescue and relief efforts while ensuring necessary assistance reaches Indian nationals.

The diplomatic missions continue to liaise with local authorities as rescue operations and the investigation into the incident remain underway. They are also helping families with essential support and facilitating communication during the emergency.

The tragic accident has prompted swift action from both Indian and Vietnamese authorities as they work together to assist those impacted and determine the circumstances surrounding the capsizing.
