PM Modi Champions ‘Make In India’ At UP International Trade Show

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida on Thursday, calling it a vital step towards India’s economic growth and self-reliance.

The five-day event, which runs until 29 September, brings together more than 2,200 exhibitors showcasing diverse products and services to domestic and global audiences.

Welcoming entrepreneurs, investors, and youth from across the country, PM Modi congratulated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for successfully hosting the event.

He also noted that Russia is the partner country for this edition, reflecting the growing international relevance of the trade show.

Antyodaya: Reaching the Last Person

Marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Prime Minister underlined the principle of Antyodaya, which seeks to ensure that development benefits even the most marginalised sections of society.

“Development should reach the poor, and all forms of discrimination must end. This is Antyodaya, and this is the strength of social justice,” PM Modi said, linking economic reform to social equity.

Highlighting the government’s reform agenda, PM Modi pointed to initiatives such as UPI, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, which have created an ‘economic revolution’.

More than 2.5 million service providers now register on GeM, and the Centre procured goods and services worth over ₹15 lakh crore through the platform, including ₹7 lakh crore from MSMEs.

This, he said, demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Calling GST a historic reform, the Prime Minister explained how it has eased the tax burden on families and enterprises.

He remarked that before 2014, authorities taxed a ₹1,000 shirt at ₹117, but now it attracts just ₹35, and most essential goods carry only a 5 per cent tax, directly benefiting consumers, farmers, and labourers.

Strengthening ‘Make in India’

PM Modi urged Indian entrepreneurs to manufacture indigenously, “From chips to ships, make everything in India. The government stands shoulder to shoulder with you.”

He stressed that entrepreneurs must never compromise on quality and called on them to develop strong ecosystems for research, design, and innovation.

The Prime Minister also praised Uttar Pradesh’s industrial progress, noting that the state now leads the country in expressways, is building the highest number of international airports, and has benefitted from the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.

He highlighted that UP now manufactures 55 per cent of India’s mobile phones and is home to the production of AK-203 rifles and BrahMos missiles, underlining its growing role in India’s industrial landscape.

Taking aim at pre-2014 governance, PM Modi said tax evasion was widespread and ordinary citizens were ‘being looted’.

By contrast, he pointed out, income up to ₹12 lakh is now tax-free and rates are steadily declining.

Addressing investors, he said, “In a changing global order, dependence on others limits progress. Investing in India – and especially in Uttar Pradesh – is a win-win situation.”

The Prime Minister concluded with a call to action, ‘Together, we must make India a developed nation by 2047’.
