Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on students to challenge conventional thinking, develop original ideas and pursue their ambitions with courage, describing young people as central to India’s development journey towards 2047.
During the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya in Chennai, PM Modi highlighted the country’s goals of entering the ranks of the world’s three largest economies, expanding its manufacturing capabilities, hosting the Olympic Games and sending an Indian to the Moon.
Emphasising his confidence in these ambitions, the Prime Minister repeatedly declared, ‘We will do it’.
He said shared determination and coordinated efforts could help India achieve its national objectives while advancing Tamil Nadu’s development.
PM Modi said the creativity and problem-solving abilities of Indian students could contribute to solutions for challenges faced across the world. He encouraged them to look beyond immediate circumstances and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
“This is your time. This is your opportunity,” he said, motivating students to approach their goals with confidence and work towards fulfilling the country’s aspirations.
The Prime Minister pointed to India’s plans to stage the 2030 Commonwealth Games and its continuing efforts to secure the 2036 Olympic Games, reflecting its ambition to host major international sporting competitions.
He also cited the expansion of higher education since 2014, stating that India’s university count had climbed from 750 to over 1,300. The number of colleges had also risen from 38,000 to more than 52,000.
Describing the Tirukkural as a source of guidance for lifelong learning, PM Modi encouraged students to remain curious and continue acquiring knowledge.
Invoking poet Subramania Bharati’s message of courage and referring to his parliamentary constituency of Kashi, PM Modi encouraged students to overcome self-doubt and translate their ideas into action.
He urged the younger generation to combine bold aspirations with independent thinking, education and innovation to help build a developed India by 2047.
