PM Modi-Chaired Cabinet Concludes Day One Of Two-Day Chintan Shivir

The Union Cabinet concluded the opening day of its two-day Chintan Shivir at Seva Teerth in New Delhi on Wednesday, with several Ministers outlining the progress of their Ministries and their plans for the future.

The discussions centred on advancing the long-term objective of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Cabinet will continue the exercise on Thursday morning, when Ministers are expected to hold another round of detailed discussions.

The deliberations provide the government with an opportunity to examine ongoing programmes, assess their implementation and determine priorities for the next phase of governance.

The Ministers will discuss coordination between Ministries, public-service delivery and ways to ensure that government schemes deliver results on the ground.

The latest consultation involves only Cabinet Ministers, giving the senior members of the Union government a dedicated platform to examine policy and administrative priorities.

The exercise follows separate meetings that Prime Minister Modi held with Ministers of State and Ministers of State with Independent Charge, creating a sequence of consultations across different levels of the Council of Ministers.

The Cabinet’s deliberations focus on reviewing work already in progress while identifying additional reforms and priorities connected with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Seva Teerth, which houses the new Prime Minister’s Office, has emerged as part of the government’s emphasis on a new work culture and more efficient, citizen-focused administration.

Government statements have described the complex as a symbol of modern governance and administrative efficiency.

The Chintan Shivir is taking place against the backdrop of speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle.

The government has, however, not officially connected the two-day exercise with any proposed reshuffle.

The remaining discussions will, however, give Cabinet Ministers an opportunity to assess departmental progress, examine areas requiring greater coordination and identify priorities for the government’s next phase of work towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
