Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a vibrant assembly of the Indian diaspora at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium, hailed the enduring bond between India and the UAE. Commending the massive turnout from various parts of the UAE and diverse Indian states, PM Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the attendees.
“This historic gathering signifies the deep-rooted friendship between India and the UAE. Here, in this iconic stadium, every pulse resonates with the spirit of Bharat-UAE friendship,” remarked Modi, amidst the rendition of both nations’ anthems.
The stadium pulsated with chants of “Modi-Modi,” underscoring the reverence and admiration for the Indian Prime Minister among the audience. Addressing the diaspora, Modi conveyed, “I have come here to meet my extended family, carrying with me the essence of your homeland and the collective sentiments of 1.4 billion people. Bharat is immensely proud of you.”
With approximately 3.5 million Indian nationals, the UAE hosts the largest expatriate community in the Gulf region. Reflecting on his inaugural visit to the UAE in 2015, PM Modi reminisced about the warmth and hospitality extended by the Emirati leadership.
“I recall my first visit in 2015, shortly after assuming office. It marked the first visit by an Indian PM to the UAE in three decades. The world of diplomacy was new to me,” shared Modi, recalling the gracious welcome bestowed upon him by the then Crown Prince, now President, and his five brothers.
PM Modi also reflected on the landmark decision during his first visit to propose the construction of a temple in Abu Dhabi, which was warmly embraced by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
