PM Modi Calls Leaders & Citizens To Embrace Self-Reliance, Vocal For Local

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, highlighted that the greatest measure of a nation’s self-respect is its self-reliance. He underlined that the foundation of a developed India lies in Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“Those who remain dependent on others cast doubt over their freedom. Hence, we must stay self-reliant,” he said.

He stressed that self-reliance goes beyond imports and exports and includes building the country’s capabilities.

“To enhance our capacities, we must be self-reliant,” PM Modi added, tracing the historical journey from colonial dependence to post-independence self-sufficiency.

PM Modi recalled the challenges India faced after independence, particularly feeding millions.

He praised Indian farmers for their dedication to filling the nation’s granaries, thereby establishing self-reliance in food production.

“Even today, the greatest measure of a nation’s self-respect is its self-reliance. A developed India rests on a self-reliant foundation,” he said.

Success in Defence & Indigenous Innovation

The Prime Minister highlighted Operation Sindoor as a landmark example of India’s indigenous capabilities.

“The wonders of Made in India were visible in Operation Sindoor. The enemy was shocked by the ammunition destroying them within seconds. Without self-reliance, this would not have been possible,” he stated.

He also noted that over the last decade, India set ambitious targets in the defence sector, which are now bearing fruit.

PM Modi urged political leaders, influencers, and citizens to make ‘Vocal for Local’ a guiding principle.

“This is not the agenda of any political party. India belongs to all of us. Let us together make Vocal for Local a mantra for every citizen’s life,” he said.

He encouraged young Indians to share innovative ideas that could shape future generations.

“Do not let your ideas die. Today’s idea could be the future of the coming generations. Gather courage, take initiative, move ahead. I am ready to work as your partner,” PM Modi declared.

PM Modi concluded by emphasising urgency in India’s journey toward development.

“2047 is not far away. Every moment is valuable, and we cannot afford to waste even a single moment,” he said, urging citizens to act with purpose and commitment.

Through this address, the Prime Minister reinforced India’s path to self-reliance, encouraging a collective national effort to foster local enterprise, innovation, and economic empowerment.
