Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reaffirmed his government’s determination to eliminate Naxal-Maoist terror from the nation, declaring, “This government will not rest until India is completely free from Naxal-Maoist terror.”
He was addressing a massive gathering at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, during the grand celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.
The event, held at the Statue of Unity, marked Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, with lakhs of citizens across India taking the unity pledge, reaffirming their commitment to national integrity and harmony.
Paying floral tributes to Sardar Patel, PM Modi described him as ‘the architect of a united India’ and said that devotion to Bharat Mata is the ‘highest form of worship’ for every citizen.
He underlined that the government is working to strengthen the four pillars of unity — cultural integration, linguistic harmony, inclusive development, and national connectivity.
The Prime Minister asserted that unity forms the foundation of a nation’s strength and said the country must defeat every conspiracy to divide it in order to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Drawing parallels between Patel’s mission of unification and his government’s development agenda, PM Modi highlighted that the Centre has lifted 25 crore people out of poverty in the past decade.
He said this achievement fulfilled Sardar Patel’s dream of an India free from want and inequality.
He also emphasised that infrastructure connectivity — through highways, expressways, railways, and airports — is uniting every part of the country and fuelling progress.
PM Modi recalled historical decisions and said that ignoring Sardar Patel’s advice on Kashmir had prevented the region from becoming an inseparable part of India from the beginning.
He said that earlier governments’ ‘weak and shortsighted policies’ had fostered terrorism and separatism, while his administration corrected those historic mistakes by abrogating Article 370.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said it proved that India responds with greater strength and determination whenever challenged.
He asserted that eliminating Naxal-Maoist terror remains one of the government’s biggest national security achievements.
“Before 2014, Naxalites dictated life and law in several regions,” he said. “But today, the government has broken their backbone, defeated their ideology, and liberated the affected areas.”
PM Modi also warned against illegal infiltrators, describing them as a ‘serious internal security threat’ that distorts demographics and exploits national resources.
He accused previous governments of ignoring the issue for vote-bank politics and said India has now taken a “decisive stand” through the new Demography Mission.
“On this Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, let us pledge to remove every infiltrator from Bharat to safeguard our unity and sovereignty,” he urged.
Concluding his address, PM Modi said, “When 140 crore Indians rise together, even mountains make way. We shall never be divided — together we will build a strong, developed, and self-reliant Bharat.”
