PM Modi Assures Full Central Support To Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland Over Floods

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured full Central support to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland after meeting five Members of Parliament from the two flood-affected states. He said the Centre would continue working closely with the respective state governments to tackle the challenges caused by heavy rainfall and floods.

After the meeting, PM Modi said on X that he had reviewed the flood situation with the MPs and assured continued cooperation with both state governments. He also prayed for the safety and well-being of all those affected.

The delegation, led by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, met the Prime Minister at Parliament House and briefed him on the prevailing flood situation. Other members included Tapir Gao, Tai Tagak, S Supongmeren Jamir and S Phangnon Konyak.

Following the meeting, Rijiju said the Prime Minister had assured full assistance and had already directed authorities to ensure timely relief, restoration and support for affected families.

Tapir Gao thanked the Prime Minister for listening to the concerns of the MPs and assuring all possible assistance for relief and rehabilitation.

Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have faced heavy rain and floods since last month, causing loss of lives and widespread damage to homes, infrastructure and crops.

The Indian Air Force has rescued over 300 stranded civilians and airlifted relief supplies to cut-off areas in Nagaland.

Earlier, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu surveyed the affected areas, with the Centre assuring compensation, new houses for displaced families and full support for relief and rehabilitation.
