PM Modi Arrives in Varanasi For Air Force Day Show With Rajnath Singh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Sunday to attend the Indian Air Force’s two-day Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026, marking the force’s 94th anniversary.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also scheduled to attend the air show at Namo Ghat.

Earlier, Modi inaugurated a new garment manufacturing facility of Arvind Limited in the Mirzamurad area of Varanasi. The unit aims to strengthen India’s textile and apparel sector, create employment opportunities, particularly for women, and support regional economic growth.

Spread across around seven acres, the facility will manufacture garments, including undergarments, T-shirts, shorts and lowers.

During his visit, the Prime Minister inspected the factory and interacted with female workers to understand the production process.

The unit also highlights Uttar Pradesh’s manufacturing potential and efforts to promote women-led development.

The Air Force Day event, titled ‘Wings Over Ganga’, is drawing large crowds to Namo Ghat and nearby riverfront locations.

Crowds gathered at Bhosale Ghat and near Ramnagar to watch the aerial display. Authorities deployed police, disaster response teams, divers and military helicopters to ensure security and monitor the area.

Cultural programmes are adding to the patriotic atmosphere as visitors gather to witness the aerial display. The event brings together India’s defence capabilities, industrial development and Varanasi’s cultural heritage.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed Modi and Rajnath Singh ahead of the air show, highlighting its significance for national defence and the region. The event forms part of the celebrations marking the Indian Air Force’s anniversary and showcases the force’s operational capabilities to the public.
