PM Modi Applauds Sadanandan Master’s Powerful Maiden Speech In Rajya Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to nominated Rajya Sabha member and Kerala BJP vice-president C Sadanandan Master, praising the courage, composure and conviction reflected in his maiden speech during the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s address in the Upper House on February 2.

Master, a former school teacher and RSS functionary, moved the Motion of Thanks amid strong protests from Opposition members, particularly the CPI(M).

His speech drew national attention when he placed his prosthetic limbs on the table while addressing the House, recalling the brutal political attack he survived in 1994 in Kerala’s Kannur district.

Referring to the incident, Master stated that those ‘roaring about democracy’ today were responsible for the attack on him decades ago, accusing the CPI(M) of double standards and a politics shaped by violence rather than democratic values.

In his letter, PM Modi praised Master’s calm and confident speech, acknowledged his ‘freshman’ status while highlighting his lifelong public service, and said the display of his prosthetic limbs deeply moved the nation and exposed the brutality of political violence.

He remarked that while the ideology responsible for the attack had weakened, Master now sat proudly in Parliament.

PM Modi said Master’s speech reflected patriotism, cultural pride and concern for Kerala’s development, noted the growing public support for development during his Thiruvananthapuram visit, and stressed that Parliament gains strength when members speak from experience and conviction.

Responding on X, Master expressed gratitude, calling the letter a priceless source of encouragement and strength.
